Hooky Love

I am well and truly, 100% madly, deeply in love with crochet. Just to bring my new treasured followers ( Hello to you! so glad you popped in to say Hi! ) up to speed, this year I decided I must learn to crochet. So in January this year my challenge began.

I didn't get very far very fast, I have to admit BUT... in February I was set a challenge by the lovely All4meggymoo that give me the kick up the behind I needed. I haven't looked back since, here are my results.

This got me thinking... I must do more to make myself keep this craft up so I am working on little project, " Learn a Stitch a Month " (W.I.P title), open to all crochet beginners to hopefully encourage others to join me and post their results of the chosen stitch that month and we can compare notes.

I guess the idea is by the end of this year we should be a step further on with our crochet know-how and have learnt some basic crochet stitches thoroughly. I'm hoping that I will see light at the end of the tunnel, with new skills learnt, I could be on my away (one foot on the ladder) to  being like you fabulous crocheters who simply dazzle my mind with your talents. We shall see, it's definitely food for thought and work in progress. If nothing comes of this, at least  I could eventually make a massive blanket, maybe use it as reference for the basic stitches.

In the mean time I have started my birdie decoration with the help of All4meggymoo, we didn't get very far, the evening just run away with us but I am now able to say that I can crochet in rounds (as above) as I just get repeating what I learnt and I'm loving every minute of it.

I heart crochet!!

xx

I also have 'Marto Pants' news, it's not much really as the rain and frost that we have had recently has prevented me from establishing my tomato plants in the new Magpie's Patch but I did transfer them from my house into my potting shed (a.k.a, at one time, the summer house). They seem to be loving it in there as they are thriving.

Here they are, waving from their new home, for the time being aways.

The Sun has got his hat on...

As I was driving to work this morning, I couldn't believe my peepers...

What is this strange phenomenon I see before me?? Could it be...? No, I'm seeing things... "Pinch"
Ouch! I'm not dreaming. I am awake!  I can see Mr Sunshine!! Where the devil have you been??

"Could my day get any better??" I thought.

Oh goodness me yes!! Look at these treats that were waiting for me when I arrived to work this morning and it isn't even my birthday!!

I just had to share them with you! Well, not my little cake of course, I had that all to myself.  Deeee-licious with my cup of tea when I got home from work this evening.

My fabulous friend D, made me this gorgeous little package to say thank you for picking her up this weekend and taking her to an art exhibition in Leeds (will post all about it later in the week). There was really no need I told her. I so enjoy spending time with her as we get on so well and like the same arts and crafty things. It's always a pleasure to be in your company D so I would like to take this opportunity to say a 'BIG THANK YOU' to you for agreeing to come with me in the first place and being such a wonderful and thoughtful friend.
P.s You make the best cakes!! tee he hee! xx

D, also gave me some odd balls of wool that she didn't think she would use to practice my crocheting with. I'm one very lucky lady today aren't I?

Speaking of crochet, another very good friend of mine popped round to see me this evening to teach me how to crochet a birdie decoration that she had said she would help me with once I had completed my 'Treble Stitch Challenge'. I haven't got very far but will post about it at the weekend when I get chance to photograph my progress. Thank you All4meggymoo for being a star!!

Well, I guess I will love you and leave you for this evening. oh! nearly forgot! There is someone who would like to say hello

He's still alive! Hooray!

Sweet dreams xx

Raindrops keep falling on my head...

Will Mr Rain ever stop?? He is gate crashing my days! Not to mention ruining my shoes. I must buy new wellies.

Today, he also brought his friend Hail along with him this afternoon, I don't remember his name on the list...

So, housebound for the rest of this afternoon, I decided to use up the last of my egg supply before my next fresh delivery from the hen house. Wish I could say at this point they were my hens but with the 'KitKats' always on the prowl, ruling this roost as they do, they would be too scared to lay. So our very kind friends who do have, keep us in a good supply, we're so lucky!!

I just had to share my puts with you. Haha! There was one that came out of the oven the size of Mini Magpie's shoe!! We just couldn't believe our peepers. Tasted very nice too!! Couldn't resist.

xx

P.S **Update** **Update** **Update** **Update** **Update**

I just wanted to let you know I am still on with learning to crochet, I've moved onto my next challenge, the "double". Still loving every minute of this craft. I will post photos asap.

I am also working on a " learn a stitch a month" project and would hopefully like to invite other beginners to join me and post their results. By the end of this year, the idea would be that we would all have learnt the basics thoroughly and can see light at the end of the tunnel, well hope anyways, to be like you fabulous crocheters who simply dazzle my mind with your talents. I wish, I wish to be like you!

What do you think? Good idea??  xx

22 February 2012

Today I must:

Hello there!

Hope today is being good to you so far! Nearly teatime! Blimey, hadn't realised how fast today has gone.

I've had the day to myself today. No going to work for me, had to get a holiday in before the holiday calendar ends at work so apart from a few appointments, I packed Mini Magpie off  to 'ner-ser-wee' as she calls it and came back home to make a start on a job that I have been putting off and putting off now for a long time.

Ok! Ok! I hold my hands up, I will admit I have become Pinterest obsessed and therefore this is why I haven't organised my room as I have got sidetracked and this site has taken over my life.

What a stroke of genius this site is!!!! If you have never visited this site before you should,  you must add it on your list of things to do.

For me, or the 'husb' rather, it should have come with a ***WARNING*** this site is so addictive you will loose your wife to the land of organised pin boards. Still the way I see it, he's glued to football and I've been a football widow for 9 years now so it's pay back time haha!!

What is Pinterest?? click here to get the low down, you will not be disappointed. Here's a sneaky peek at my boards so far:

So, are you tempted to peek and start your own boards?? Go on, you know you want to.

Right, I must make a start on what I am supposed to be doing but I will leave you with my latest find. How lucky was I to find this book? Especially as my 'Treble Stitch Challenge' is drawing to a close this time next week. I'm still 'Hooked'. Can you believe that this book was about to be thrown into a skip as no one wanted it? Rubie Magpie to the rescue!! It's full of useful advice, especially for a crochet beginner like me.

Enjoy your evening, thanks for popping by xx

"Pinch, Punch it's the first of the month..."

Hello!

Welcome to February, gosh! where, o' where did January go??? Did I blink and miss it?

Well,  today I have received a challenge! This should get my crochet fingers working.  Never one to shy away from a challenge, being a Gemini, there is at least one half of me that is very competitive, I accepted with grace and it's going to be full steam ahead for the next month.

My Challenge, should I choose (which I do) to accept it is... to 'Learn Treble Crochet Stitch' thoroughly within the next four weeks and who knows where it might lead. I have a pretty good idea where I would like it to, so I will let you read on.

Basically, when I last blogged about learning to crochet, I have to now admit, I am not exactly progressing as well as I'd hoped : (   Soooo... All4meggymoo has said if I can master the treble stitch within the next month, my prize (which I'm soooo wanting to create) is to make my very own birdie decoration that All4meggymoo posted about here. Check him out, he's delectable!

Boy, have I got a lot of hard work to do haha!!  Bonus though, I have just been informed I can choose my wool from All4meggymoo large stash ; )

BRING IT ON!!!!  Watch this space...

Sweet dreams! Thanks for dropping in xx

Back to normality

Howdee Doodee!!

What a week! I trust the first week back at work for you all has gone well?

Back to normality after the festivities is always a shock to the system, so after taking my Christmas decks down the day before I returned to work added to my sadness. I love to see all the sparkles and twinklies that come out throughout December, old films on the TV and cosying up at night. This year I have inherited some of my favourite decorations from my childhood that my Nan would put out every year. Sadly, she passed in July, so was so pleased to be able to add them to my collection as I really wanted them to continue to see the light of day. They looked very cute grouped together on my window sill, even though they are funny looking little wooden ornaments but I hold them dear none the less, I'd like to share them with you and some of the other decks I had out this year!

I also really wanted to create a bit of a woodland theme this Christmas, inspired by my trip earlier this year to Cannon Hall Country Park. After gathering a rather large amount of fir cones, which helped my theme along, have proved their weight in gold and come in very useful dotted in-between my creatures.

Today, though, has been one of the best days of my week!!
It turned my frown upside down!!

My very best friend, who I believe is a master in the art of Crochet (she is A-MA-ZING!!) over at All4meggymoo came round to my house and taught an old dog, some new tricks.
I couldn't believe my peepers, still can't as I look at my first ever Granny Square taking its shape. How is it possible to use one little hook to create something so cool??  I have been wanting to learn how to crochet for an age now and today, with the help of one very lovely and patient BF, thank you Shelley!, by jov, I think I've cracked it!! Still a mighty long way to go but I did say that I wanted to learn new things in 2012 and I guess the ball has started rolling today!!

Here's what I have achieved!

Thanks for popping in!

 Much Love xx
