Sitting here wondering...

Hello peeps!

Hope you are all well! It's been a funny old week this week, some good bits and some not so. Not really sure where it has gone either or what I have done, but I thought I would post as I know one thing for sure I have been engrossed in this magical world of story telling that my fellow blog peeps are telling about what they have been up to.

There are soooo many, tooooo many, wonderful, inspirational and crafty blogs out there, I've been totally side tracked, all a credit to their makers, and have made me loose myself completely. The little cogs in the old grey matter have been turning like there's no tomorrow. I have been so inspired I just don't know which way to turn, so as of tomorrow, 'Operation Organisation of the Rubie Magpie will begin....

...Where to start, o' where to start, that is the question... I feel a list coming on haha!!

I have one little snippet to share with you, I have been asked to create some birthday invitations this week and here's the chosen one*, please let me know your thoughts...

(*all party details displayed are fictional)

Till next time, thanks for popping by xx

A Little Birdie told me...

Hello There!!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!  I thought I would drop you a line to say 'Hi' out there in
Blogland. It was a very, very windy day yesterday where I live, I wish the weather would make up it's mind as to what it actually wants to do, it's supposed to be Winter here in the UK and the
poor wildlife around these here parts, doesn't know whether it's coming or going. Still, it gave
me the opportunity to sift through some old photographs of projects I created last year. At the
same time I'd like to share with you one of my beautiful cats who I caught catching some
rays from the safety of our spare room window sill as the wind was blowing a gale outside.

Ladies and Gentlemen, may I introduce you to Mr "Max" our tremendously fluffy cat! Our other little 'kitkat' is very shy (frightened of his own shadow at times) so I will introduce him to you another day.

So... back to my find, I hope you like them and it may give you an insight into the kind of things I like to create and make for fun.

Back in January '11, my friend Lucy asked me to help create her wedding stationery for her up and coming nuptials that took place last June. Only tooooo happy to oblige...

...I'd just like to fill you on something here, one of my favourite things on this planet is Weddings, I absolutely love them and all that comes with them, especially the stationery side.  You'll find me usually covered in beads, sequins, buttons, ribbons and glitter, I guess that's why I'm like a magpie, I just love the sparkly things!!  I am married myself and thank the Lord, my wonderful 'husb' wasn't a bit put off by all of this and I suppose, could find me to propose under my mountains of wedding paraphernalia, I guess he understands how much I love helping other brides with the preparations for their very 'special' day and making it unique to them.

Sorry, I digress, I'm good at that too ; ) Where was I? Oh yeah, Lucy's stationery... Only to happy to oblige, we set to work creating her invites that would incorporate her bridal party's colours and set the tone for the day. After these were completed and safely distributed, we began to think about favours, place cards, the table plan etc. Remembering that while out shopping for ribbons one day, we'd stumbled into a shop that had a rather random collection of bits n bobs on its shelves and where Lucy was rather taken with these cardboard birds on display, so with her venue in mind, being rather rustic and set in the countryside, I designed her place cards to look like these little guys below:

Initially they were going to be attached to the top of the hessian favour bags to help them look like nesting birds but in the end we decided to glue mini pegs to their reverses and clip them onto the top of the wine glasses for something a bit different for her guests at their tables.

After Lucy's very splendid and special day, still loving her little birdies, I adapted them to make her thank you cards so that even guests who were unable to attend could share the love!!

Well, time for a cup of tea for me so I will bid you sweet dreams till next time.

Thanks for popping by!

xx

Hello Peeps!!

Just wanted to drop you all a line and hope you're evening is going well?

Also, I really wanted to explain my lack of posts so far...

I am new to this very exciting world of blogging, so hope that I am forgiven for this. Just to keep you all in the loop, I am, at the moment, working on the design and the layout of my blog at the same time as finding my way around so please bare with me and hopefully stay tuned as I hope to keep adding new snippets most days. Today I thought I would add my banner, hope you like?

Yesterday though, I found out that I had been awarded the:

by my very best friend at all4meggymoo, thank you, I feel really honoured as I have only been a blogger for such a short space of time and still finding my feet. Thank you for all your encouragement! So over the next few days, I will now follow in your foot steps and nominate five up and coming blogs on my page to keep the spirit going...

The origins of the Liebster blog are somewhat unclear, however the general consensus is the German award meaning nearest and dearest is awarded to up and coming blogs with less than 200 followers in order to showcase these blogs.

The rules are:

♥ Choose 5 blogs with less than 200 followers to award the Liebster Blog Award.

Say 'Thank You' the the blogger that gave you the by linking back to their blog.

List the 5 blogs you nominate and link back to their blogs.

So watch this space for my nominated beautiful blogs and more from Rubiemagpie...

Wishing you all sweet dreams...

Love lots xx

Back to normality

Howdee Doodee!!

What a week! I trust the first week back at work for you all has gone well?

Back to normality after the festivities is always a shock to the system, so after taking my Christmas decks down the day before I returned to work added to my sadness. I love to see all the sparkles and twinklies that come out throughout December, old films on the TV and cosying up at night. This year I have inherited some of my favourite decorations from my childhood that my Nan would put out every year. Sadly, she passed in July, so was so pleased to be able to add them to my collection as I really wanted them to continue to see the light of day. They looked very cute grouped together on my window sill, even though they are funny looking little wooden ornaments but I hold them dear none the less, I'd like to share them with you and some of the other decks I had out this year!

I also really wanted to create a bit of a woodland theme this Christmas, inspired by my trip earlier this year to Cannon Hall Country Park. After gathering a rather large amount of fir cones, which helped my theme along, have proved their weight in gold and come in very useful dotted in-between my creatures.

Today, though, has been one of the best days of my week!!
It turned my frown upside down!!

My very best friend, who I believe is a master in the art of Crochet (she is A-MA-ZING!!) over at All4meggymoo came round to my house and taught an old dog, some new tricks.
I couldn't believe my peepers, still can't as I look at my first ever Granny Square taking its shape. How is it possible to use one little hook to create something so cool??  I have been wanting to learn how to crochet for an age now and today, with the help of one very lovely and patient BF, thank you Shelley!, by jov, I think I've cracked it!! Still a mighty long way to go but I did say that I wanted to learn new things in 2012 and I guess the ball has started rolling today!!

Here's what I have achieved!

Thanks for popping in!

 Much Love xx

Happy 2012!!!

Welcome to the start of a brand New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful and peaceful Christmas

So...Day one of 2012, what has this year got in store for us all?? I have been sat at home today, pondering over my New Years resolutions... have you made any? I've made a few, as I type, I am actually wondering how many of them I will stick to but one of them was to create/make or bake something new as often as I can. I have started with 'create' and that's my New Years bunting attached.

Thanks for stopping by today and I wish you a happy, healthy and exciting New Year ahead xx
